Something really rad just happened... I met another soul sister!
It's interesting to think that that we just met, because we've obviously met before. I know a lot of soul sisters that I'm just getting reacquainted with, and I'm surprised to find that it still surprises me.
And the coolest part about meeting this new sister? I didn't even have to go anywhere :)
One of my favorite things to do is not do anything. Seriously. I love hanging out by myself, making things, sewing, drawing, crafting, needle-felting, working (obviously) but not working. It's just making stuff. Most of the stuff I've been making is for other people, with specific intentions, but I get to do it my way. In my own space, with my favorite sweater on, blanket on my lap, hair messy, makeup still from last night-working my way. :) With my favorite tea right around the corner while in my favorite chair. You get the picture.
So I'm hanging out in my office, making stuff, and Bear comes in and asks me to sing for a minute. Why? He's testing out a new mic. Oh, ok. So I go downstairs to his studio and it just happens that the folks who brought the mic over are super rad, and my new (old) soul sister!
How cool is the universe when that happens? Opportunities come to you. It happens every day, on a multitude of levels. We just don't always clue in to what the opportunity is, or who our next friend may be. When we're operating from a place that we love (not always a location, but a heart-space of love), amazing things happen all the time. I'll notice a new flower that wasn't there before. The colors of the cherry blossoms against the bright blue sky. The beautiful greyish, purplish, bluish clouds full of rain and snow against a gleaming emerald hill. Amazing beauty everywhere.
Smiling to the checkout dude at the Chevron, asking the ladies at Subway about their Valentine's day--generally noticing things. Being present enough to not continually check my email while I drive or worry about texting during dinner ... all of these instances of 'being here-ness' are windows to notice the amazing things (and people) that are everywhere.
So for the next few paragraphs, I want to highlight some of my amazing soul sisters, and I hope you will be able to keep an eye (and open heart) out for the beautiful people (and moments) in your life and share them with the blogosphere. Or your facebook. Or just have a tea with them & laugh a bit at how rad life is. Even for recluses like me :)
Meet Mama Crow
She's my newest known soul sister, lives up in the bay area, and is doing amazing things with her music and especially her organizational skills. Look for her Womyn's Voice series which focuses on women sharing their lives through sound and song.
Meet Sally Hope
Another bay area resident who rocks at everything she does. She even rocks at teaching others how to rock, especially on a daily level. Life coach, musician, and truth-speaker, she will bring truth to your life and a smile to your face.
Meet Elske Daigle
She is the co-founder of Pop Culture–the best thing to hit the beverage market since twisty straws that changed color. She and her husband are bringing fresh-pressed organic juice with sparkles for your taste buds and your integrity. Locally sourced and organically grown-her strong family ethic and bitchin' mamma skills bring only the best ingredients to the table. Look for her amazing color schemes in Whole Foods this summer.

I think this is a good idea, to highlight our soul sisters. I think I'll end up revisiting this post as the future grows & let you in on their goodness. :) We rock, we roll. We hold each other's hands while we cry. We love, we fight. And we certainly wouldn't be nearly this radient without each other's support.
Thank you to my soul sisters, known and unknown! :)Labels: creative, inspiration, music, purpose
