Drafty Cats

I'm sitting in front of a beautiful fire in our lovely friend's home in Victoria, BC while I try & recap the past few months of 2010...

The Croff Creative studio has been full of changes since my wedding -- the full addition of letterpress (more on that later), rearranging my workspace, and above all--my new family!

One challenge about being your own boss, promoter, artist, musician, and now wife, is that you want to hang out and NOT work once in a while.
This summer was spent travelling in Europe with our backpacks, staying with friends, family, and complete strangers in hostels. It was the best experience we could have chosen as a honeymoon, and a pivotal arc on our "businessy" orbits.

When I got back to the studio, I realized how incredibly high-octane I ran my life... many many new projects and goals, and very little down time.

We shifted our focus on letting more of that into our lives, and found a very funky space to live in the woods. Our cats love it out there, we love the views, and the drafts love our doorways. I couldn't believe how much cold air started seeping under the doors when we lit our fire!

So I sat on our couch, looking at our cats, looking at the gap under the door, and I thought, "Wouldn't it be hilarious to have a door cozy, blocking the draft, but it would be a cat with a really long tail?!" I laughed so hard and out loud that my husband didn't really get the joke, until the next day, I had created 3 new Drafty Cats for our house. He loved them! I loved them! They were so cute and worked so well, that I decided to take this one public.

A Custom Drafty Cat

Drafty Cats is now a growing kitten of a company, born out of my studio, for my home and now yours.
I'm using my collection of vintage and rare fabrics to start, creating unique cats that lovingly guard your door from drafts. Each one is filled with rice and stands upright on it's own--designed to stand in front of the vertical gap in the bottom of your door to block that draft too... very crafty Drafty Cats.
